Whether you're looking for organic weed control, sustainable grazing companions, cuddly pets, or registered breeding stock to start your own flock, our Babydoll Southdowns offer versatility, charm, and heritage appeal. All our sheep are registered with NABSSAR (North American Babydoll Southdown Sheep Association and Registry)
Unlike the larger, modernized Southdown sheep, Babydolls were selected and bred from the true, old strain of English sheep that thrived on and fertilized the chalky South Down hills of Sussex. Known for their outstanding meat and carcass quality as well as fine wool, Babydolls are naturally polled (hornless), and inherently docile, and friendly, making them the perfect choice for small homesteads, backyards, hobby farms, or limited-acreage properties. They thrive on grass or hay and serve as natural, eco-friendly landscaper, keeping areas tidy without noisy or polluting mechanical tools.
A key advantage is their suitability for orchards, vineyards, and gardens: thanks to their short stature, low center of gravity, and reluctance to stand on hind legs, they rarely reach higher branches or damage valuable trees, fruit, vines, or shrubs (young trunks can be protected if needed). Their small hooves minimize soil compaction, and their droppings provide excellent natural fertilizer to enrich the soil and improve pasture or orchard health. They respect fences well, staying content within defined paddocks rather than challenging boundaries or escaping easily.

Welcome to Rose Hill Babydolls
For over 18 years, we have been proudly raising Babydoll Southdown sheep. These charming, traditional English heritage sheep are one of the smallest breeds in the world. They have proven themselves to be an invaluable part of our farm, consistently amazing us with their capacity to control grass level and weeds as well as invasive poison oak and blackberry bushes, while being gentle on trees and fencing. We’re so excited to help you get started with this amazing breed and can’t wait for you to start enjoying the many benefits they will bring to your homestead.
